SELECTION CRITERIA & PROCESS

When identifying suitable candidates, the following requirements are taken into account:
  • Learners in Grade 7 to Grade 12
  • Academic performance >65% aggregate
  • In need of financial support for school fees (gross combined income per household per month should not exceed R15 000)
  • Must be a South African
  • Speaks and understands basic English
  • Embraces a strong value system and sense of responsibility
  • Participates in extra-curricular activities (school related activities)
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities
  • Actively involved in community service

Process

1Written application
A formal application is submitted, including: personal information, academic record, cultural and sporting activities, leadership experience and other achievements, and voluntary involvement in the learner’s community.
2First interview and Psychometric Assessment
Candidates (fitting the selection criteria) and their parents / guardians are invited to an interview with the selection committee. Each candidate also completes a battery of psychometric tests. These tests determine, among other things, the applicant’s aptitude, interests, drive, coping skills and leadership potential.
3Final panel interview
Based on the recommendations of psychologists following the testing phase, a final round of interviews is held to select the successful candidates, for the executive committee to approve.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS:

MAD Leadership Foundation will focus on specific criteria for our 2016 applications for funding in 2017; this criteria will be stipulated with each available scholarship opportunity throughout the year. Applicants should carefully study the criteria before applying to ensure they qualify for the specific opportunity. Scholarship opportunities and applicable application forms will be advertised here and on our social media platforms throughout the year as and when they become available.

AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIP - TFG FASHION FUTURE BURSARY PROGRAMME (in partnership with MAD Leadership Foundation & FEDISA):

AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIP - M2E (Momentum 2 Excellence) Bursary Programme (in partnership with MAD Leadership Foundation & Cricket South Africa:

Momentum, a division of the MMI Group Limited, have partnered with Cricket South Africa (CSA) and MAD Leadership Foundation in offering the Momentum 2 Excellence (M2E) Bursary Programme. This opportunity is aimed at developing academically talented cricket-focused scholars, who are performing on provisional level and demonstrate leadership abilities and are in need of financial support.

Selection Criteria: 

Cricket

  1. Performance at Provincial Week level.
  2. Cricket awareness, discipline & skills report from school cricket coach submitted as supporting documents.

Academic

  1. Entry level into the programme at Grade 8 level and not before, but no later than Grade 10.
  2. Minimum academic average 60% and above aggregate in Grade 7 – 9.
  3. Minimum academic average 60% and above aggregate in Grade 10 – 12.

Other

  1. In need of financial support (R20 000 and less – gross income per household per month).
  2. Fluent in English.
  3. South African citizen.
  4. Strong value system and sense of responsibility.
  5. Demonstrates leadership qualities.
  6. Actively involved in community service.
