“Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. Sport can awaken hope, where there was previously only despair.”

These words were spoken by our Chairman, Francois Pienaar, and epitomise the last 12 years of hundreds of supporters, friends and donors around the world helping us raise an extraordinary amount of funds.

CYCLE WITH MAD LEADERSHIP FOUNDATION

Since 2003, when MAD Leadership Foundation approached the Cape Town Cycle Tour organisers and proposed that they create a special peloton for MAD Leadership Foundation, our goal has always been to grow this fundraising initiative with cyclists who would pledge to use the 110 km cycle tour to raise funds for MAD Leadership Foundation. Over the past 12 years, we have grown from 15 to 550 cyclists, with a total of almost 2000 cyclists riding for a purpose over the years.

GOLF WITH MAD LEADERSHIP FOUNDATION

Annually, MAD Leadership Foundation hosts golf days at some of the world’s most prestigious golf clubs in the Western Cape, Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal, as well as in the USA and UK. Each year, we are overwhelmed by the support and generosity we receive from those who are dedicated to contributing towards education in South Africa. We are deeply grateful to all our dedicated players, partners, sponsors and donors for the auction items provided for each golf day. Thank you for pledging to make a difference.

From the Old Mutual Two Oceans Half Marathon to the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon , MAD Leadership Foundation running is a growing area and we need you to lead the way for education!

SUPPORT A FUNDRAISER

We are extremely thankful for the admirable support of the following individuals, who are as passionate as we are about developing leaders in South Africa through education. These individuals started fundraising initiatives independently of MAD Leadership Foundation, giving up their personal time to raise funds for what we do. It is because of individuals such as these that we can continue to raise sustainable funds and awareness for MAD Leadership Foundation through innovative means.

CHEFS WHO SHARE

In September 2013, Chefs who Share – the ART of Giving was launched in aid of youth development. It is an evening of glamour, culinary artistry and a fine art auction. MAD Leadership Foundation was chosen to be one of the beneficiaries of the substantial proceeds raised by this event. Created by Opulent Living Experiences and presented by Mercedes-Benz, the black-tie gala draws together 14 award-winning South African chefs, as well as seven top sommeliers, to create a food-and-wine pairing experience par excellence.
Chefs who Share also supports children in Cape Town’s challenged communities, providing fresh produce for healthier meals through the Veggie Box initiative . For R1 000 per box, you can provide children with healthy meals and education on nutrition. Boxes can be bought throughout the year, with all proceeds going to a charity supporting children in need.

KLEIN CONSTANTIA ETTIX-QUICK-STEP COCKTAIL FUNCTION & CHARITY AUCTION

Annually, the breath-taking Klein Constantia estate hosts the Klein Constantia and Etixx-Quick-Step Pro Cycling Team cocktail function and charity auction. All proceeds from the event and auction are donated to MAD Leadership Foundation, to raise funds for the Individual Education Programme.

In 2015, the event was attended by cycling legend, Eddy Merckx, and cycle icons, Mark Cavendish and Mark Renshaw. Dan Nicholl was the superb auctioneer, who sold 4 auction lots (including a surprise lot from Eddy Merckx), which raised an exceptional amount of money for MAD Leadership Foundation.

THE AFRASIA BANK CAPE WINE AUCTION

The AfrAsia Bank Cape Wine Auction is an exhilarating global showcase of South Africa’s finest wine and provides an opportunity to purchase one-of-a-kind experiences. They include rare wines, exceptional private homes, supremely talented chefs and winemakers, and access to the inner sanctum of the South African wine industry. The date and venue for 2016 has been set for 12 – 13 February 2016 at the Klein Constantia estate.

The primary mission of the AfrAsia Bank Cape Wine Auction is to raise funds to support education in the South African winelands. To date, in excess of R7 million has been raised for charity. MAD Leadership Foundation is privileged to be associated with this esteemed event, as a beneficiary of the substantial funds raised.

MAD2Run

Mad2Run is a team of 12 individuals, who plan a 24 hour relay each year, in order to raise funds for MAD Leadership Foundation. They complete an extraordinary 1490 kilometres in total, made up of an average of 250km per day for 8 days, culminating at the Old Mutual Two Oceans Half Marathon in Cape Town. Their aim is to make a small difference to a few individuals – who will, in turn, make a big difference in their communities.

An incredible amount of R525 000 was raised in 2016 for the MAD Leadership Foundation Scholar Wellness, Development and Support Programme. The team will be returning in 2017 with 12 new runners and promise to be even bigger and better – but they need your support to make it possible.
